But over the course of time, many people have questioned the country’s ability to match its export service capabilities to export   manufacturing   capabilities. The main purpose of this campaign was, and still is, to promote the growth of local businesses and manufacturers to boost  the Indian economy  and to boost the worldwide presence of Made in India goods. Moreover, this campaign also paved the way for industrialists and manufacturers from across the globe to come set their plants in India to manufacture or produce their goods/services to encourage growth in job opportunities and GDP. Making sense of 'Make In India'

Manufacturing needs to get a boost. But what to manufacture and how are two critical questions Prime minister Narendra Modi’s “Make in India” slogan is slowly beginning to capture the imagination of both his supporters and detractors. Starting from his Independence Day speech, where he first made the comment, to his recent US trip, where he turned it into an instrument to get foreign investment, the country is getting to know what this campaign is all about. The “Make in India” campaign aims to make India the manufacturing hub of the world, challenging China’s dominant position in the world of manufacturing. Modi has linked this to creation of employment to encash the demographic dividend. In simple terms, companies will come to India to manufacture products instead of just marketing them here. Digital Literacy

What Are Digital Literacy Skills? Digital literacy encompasses a number of 21st century skills related to using technology effectively and appropriately. Because digital literacy and citizenship are gaining importance across the country, many states have developed specific digital literacy standards and courses. 1. Information Literacy Today’s students rely on the Internet as a primary source of information for both school and personal use. That’s why it’s important that you teach students how to evaluate information to ensure it’s accurate. To teach information literacy, focus on effective ways to evaluate the quality and credibility of information and cover learning strategies that yield more credible results. 2. Ethical Use of Digital Resources While your students may know they need to cite information from books, they could forget that they need to cite information online as well. Talk to your students about intellectual property, copyrighted material, and the proper way to refer

Digital Illiteracy

Digital Literacy   We have almost 40% of the population below the poverty line, the general illiteracy rate itself is 25 to 30%, and digital illiteracy is more than 90%. The digital divide in India is another significant road-blocks on the path of digital literacy. Ways to Improve Digital Literacy 1. Emphasise the importance of critical thinking The majority of media we consume today comes from online sources, some of which are more credible than others. Of course, the fact that so much information is readily available to anyone with an internet connection is a decidedly positive thing. But it also means that today’s students are more susceptible to subliminal messages, misinformation, and fake news. 2. Use social media for learning and collaborating Today’s students are already active on social media, and in many cases they may already be more adept at using it than their teachers. So the focus shouldn’t be on introducing students to the ins and outs of social media, but on demonstra

DIGITAL ILLITERACY

Digital Illiteracy  Digital literacy means having the skills you need to live, learn, and work in a society where communication and access to information is increasingly through digital technologies like internet platforms, social media, and mobile devices. Why is digital literacy so important? School leaders, media specialists, and educators are focusing more and more on the benefits of digital literacy skills in schools because today’s students are looking to the Internet as a key source of information. Students who are digitally literate know how to find and consume digital content. They know how to create, communicate, and share digital content. Students who are building digital literacy skills understand the basics of Internet safety such as creating strong passwords, understanding and using privacy settings, and knowing what to share or not on social media. They understand the perils of cyberbullying and seek to stop current bullies and prevent others from cyberbullying. Written
