  The export supply capabilities of India have always been exceptional. But over the course of time, many people have questioned the country’s ability to match its export service capabilities to export   manufacturing   capabilities.   “Make In India” is an initiative launched by the Government of India to encourage multinational as well as national companies to manufacture their products in India. This initiative was started by Prime Minister Mr. Narendra Modi on September 25, 2014 at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi. After the initiation of this program in the year 2015, India emerged as the top destination globally for foreign direct investment, surpassing the United States of America and China. With this initiative new avenues would be created in India which would attract capital and investment and would generate employment opportunities in the country. But what to manufacture and how are two critical questions Prime minister Narendra Modi’s “Make in India” slogan is slowly beginning to capture the imagination of both his supporters and detractors. Starting from his Independence Day speech, where he first made the comment, to his recent US trip, where he turned it into an instrument to get foreign investment, the country is getting to know what this campaign is all about.
